What to Expect

As a new client of our Veterinary Hospital in DeWitt, IA, you can expect our full attention to your pets’ needs. Our service will be provided with courtesy and respect.

New Patient Routine/Non-Routine Appointments:

Prior to your 1st appointment, please have your previous veterinarian either fax or email a complete medical history on your pet that the appointment is for. Please be sure they include all medical history, vaccine history, any previous diagnosis, and any lab work results. Having all of this information prior to the day of your pets 1st appointment will allow our doctors to have an appropriate amount of time to learn about your pets previous medical history before they meet your pet.

If your pet is new and this is their very first veterinary appointment, please bring any medical paperwork you have from the breeder, shelter, etc.

New Patient Pre-Surgical Exam Appointments:

Prior to scheduling a surgical procedure, we require a pre surgical exam be perfomed on your pet by our veterinarians. Before this appointment, please have your previous veterinarian either fax or email a complete medical history on your pet that the appointment is for. Please be sure they include all medical history, vaccine history, any previous diagnosis, and any lab work results.

What To Expect When You Arrive:

When you arrive for your appointment, you will be greeted warmly and we will usher you into an examination room as soon as we have one available. Our goal is to see all of our clients and patients on time, and although we have contingencies for emergencies, there will be times where the unexpected will create delays. We will ensure these are minimized as much as possible.

You will see a veterinary assistant first who will take a history, and gather some data for the doctor. A veterinarian will see you next, examine your pet, answer your questions and plan further diagnostics or treatment as necessary. You will then see the assistant again to wrap things up, and she will provide you with further educational information and answer routine wellness and care questions for you. Your assistant will then guide you back to our front desk to handle billing and schedule any needed follow up appointments.

We are excited to meet you and your animal family members!
